 Consultant – Cardiothoracic Surgeon Specialising in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS). Dr. M M Yusuf gained MBBS at the Stanley Medical College Chennai India. He then went to the United Kingdom and completed Basic Surgical Training by passing the FRCS exam in General surgery. Following this he underwent Higher Surgical Training in the university hospitals of Wales in Cardiff and Swansea. He completed this with FRCS in Cardiothoracic Surgery awarded by the Intercollegiate Speciality board – Royal College of Surgeons in the United Kingdom. He further specialized by training in Bristol Heart Institute and King’s College Hospital London. He also undertook a Fellowship in Minimally invasive and Robotic cardiac Surgery at the world-renowned OLV Hospital in Aalst Belgium. Dr. M M Yusuf performs the following Minimally invasive cardiac surgery procedures Port Access Mitral Valve Repair Replacement – through a 5 to 7.5 cms right minithoracotomy incision with the aid of high definition video thoracoscope. Mini Sternotomy Aortic Valve Replacement – through 5 to 7cms partial J sternotomy. Minimally Invasive Direct CABG (MIDCAB) – through a 5cms left minithoracotomy incision He also performs the following adult cardiac surgical procedures through a standard sternotomy approach Off-Pump Coronary artery bypass surgery – Arterial Revascularisation. Major aortic surgery such as Aortic root replacement Ascending aorta aneurysm repair Emergency aortic dissections repair. Redo CABG and mitral and aortic valve replacement
