DivanBallubhai High School Paldi
 wo teachers Shri Jivanlal Hariprasad Divan and Shri Balvantrai Parmodrai Thakore taught in the Government Middle School in 1907. In the same year Vajendra Panalal Divan the nephew of Hariprasad Divan and Narendra Balvantrai Thakore the son of Balvantrai Thakore passed their 4th grade and went to secure admission in the middle school. But for some reason their admission was denied. This hurt the self-respect and reputation of the two teachers. They resigned and decided to start a new school on their own without any help from the English. The school thus formed without any British help was named ‘Proprietary High School.’Maganbhai’s mansion was suppoed to house the school. But before the project could take off a fire on January 1 1908 burned down the mansion and ruined the plans of the two ambitious teachers. But they did not give up. On January 6 1908 only five days after the fire Shri Jivanlal Divan and Shri Balvantrai Thakore started their school in the Muscati Market with 102 students. In one month the number of students went up to 262 by the year it was a staggering 900 students. The building in the Muscati Market soon became too small for the ever increasing number of students being enrolled. So in 1913 the school was shifted to the Balentine building near Tran Darwaja.
