 BIS Hallmarking is done by the Bureau of Indian Standards and certifies the purity of the gold. 916 purity indicates that the gold is 91.6 pure which is 22 karat gold. Hallmarking is done at Government certified testing centres where jewellery is melted down and tested for its purity and a laser engraving is made on the jewellery. In all Khazana showrooms in India every ornament is individually hallmarked. This means that both the earrings in a pair of earrings will be hallmarked unlike at other jewellers’.
